Engineers in Britain have
invented a tooth implant that works like a mobile phone. The "tooth
phone" consists of a small vibrator and a radio wave receiver
implanted into a tooth during surgery. Sound is transferred to the inner
ear by bone resonance, allowing only the implanted to receive
information anytime, anywhere.
Cellphone's
that can read lips
A
Japanese company is developing a product which will be enable your
wireless phone to read lips. No more shouting into your phone in noisy
surroundings. Contact sensors near the mouthpiece in the phone
detect tiny electrical signals sent by muscles around the mouth. A
speech synthesizer converts the signals into spoken words or text for a
message or email. The lip reading phones won't be available for
approximately five years. So, in the meantime...KEEP SHOUTING.
Talking
teddy bear sounds just like Grandma
Using wireless technology, a new
teddy bear allows distant friends and relatives to send a greeting, in
their own voice, to a child through their toy. Now, Grandpa can say hi
to the grandkid through his or her little stuffed animal, and possibly
scare the heck out of them. The bear is priced at $49 with calls to the
bear a mere 10 cents a minute. Psychotherapy not included.

Women in Poland can sign up for
a service that will send text message alerts to their wireless phones
telling them when it is safe to have sex without the risk of getting
pregnant.

to introduce $20,000 jeweled phone
What do you get that person who
has everything? How about a jeweled mobile phone with more than 400
moving parts including 18 jeweled bearings inside a case made of
platinum or 18-karat white gold.
Sure $20,000 seems like a
lot of money for a cellular phone, but keep in mind it also features a

New
product lets you crank more battery power
Motorola has teamed with the
Freeplay Energy Group to manufacture Freecharge, a product which allows
you to extend your talk time by five minutes with 45 seconds of
cranking.
Freecharge incorporates a
small generator which produces electricity when cranked. Just plug it in
to the your phone and crank away.
Freecharge weighs 11.5
ounces and will hit the market in March for about $65. There goes the
"my battery went dead" excuse.

McDonald's
tests pre-paid wireless ordering
McDonald's is testing a new
service that works similarly to pre-paid calling cards, but instead you
can order Big Mac's and fries while on the road. You dial a special
number when you're within a few blocks of the restaurant, and upon
arriving, your order is ready for you at a special parking spot.
Just put money in your
pre-paid account and fast food truly becomes fast.

It has long been a tradition for
Slovakians to bury their dead with objects of value. Recently, many have
been put to rest with their cell phone in their pocket.
At a recent funeral, a
mourner interrupted the service by calling the deceased's cell phone. As
the priest continued, an electronic version of the William Tell Overture
rang from the cadaver's pocket. At least they didn't put it on vibrate
to scare the children.

that cell phones are reducing the reports of ghosts. Apparently, the
electrical activity interferes with their ability to move about.

proposes codes to assure wireless access during emergencies
The United States government is requesting that wireless providers
initiate a program that will give priority to emergency service
personnel who use their networks. In the case of a national emergency,
workers will key in a special code which will allow them to access a
cell tower during times of heavy congestion.

Motorola researchers have
announced that they have successfully demonstrated a methane gas-powered
fuel cell, which provides enough energy to operate a wireless phone for
an entire month.
The fuel cell is essentially
a mini electrochemical plant that fits a belt holster. The methane gas
is stored in an area the size of a ballpoint pen ink holder.

stands are regularly polled on their cell phones by the coach of the
team. For example: if the coach is considering a late-game substitution,

to this service then message back their recommendation.

Criminal
located when cell phone rang
A man involved in a minor traffic accident in
Harrison County, Mississippi, fled the scene of the crime and headed
into the woods after learning that the other driver called the police.
Police discovered that the man was wanted for burglary and began
searching the woods. They had been searching for about an hour when the
man's cell phone rang and gave away his location.

Dollar Rent-A-Car announced that
its customers could now book a vehicle directly through
mobile.dollar.com from both Personal Digital Assistants (such a Palm
devices) or through web enabled cell phones. Dollar claims to be the
first car rental company to offer this service.

Snacking more dangerous than Cell Phones
A new crash study report from AAA reveals that other passengers in the
vehicle and snacking while behind the wheel are much more dangerous than
using a wireless phone. Out of the 26,000 accidents analyzed, cell phone
usage contributed to only 1.5% of the incidents, while 19.7% were caused
by passengers and 18.8% were attributed to food and beverage
consumption.

of their chimps was the calling culprit. Chippy the chimp had stolen a
wireless phone from a staff member and proceeded to continually call all
of the numbers in the phones directory. The jig was up for Chippy when
an angry worker yelled into the phone and Chippy replied with a shriek.
