Bouygues opposes any move to award a fourth 3G mobile phone licence in France

In an interview with the economic newspaper Les Echos, Martin Bouygues returned to the issue of a possible arrival of Free as a fourth mobile operator. And it is not tender.
Free as a fourth mobile operator in France? No question, Martin Bouygues, interviewed on the subject by the daily Les Echos. At least, not in the current form and certainly not with conditions for preferential access to mobile networks.
To justify his remarks, the operator of the Bouygues group notes that Free has a level of profitability in ADSL much higher than that of Bouygues Telecom and it will review its claims to lower margins if he really wants lower prices for consumers in the mobile field.
Another criticism, Martin Bouygues does not believe in funding to the tune of 1 billion euros to build a 3G network. It would require that Free occupies part of existing infrastructure through partnerships with incumbents that Bouygues called “cuckoo strategy”. (more…)
