The Nuvifone of Garmin was designed to counter the advance of mobile phones capable of providing satellite navigation, which is increasingly coming to steal market share to companies in this field.

Both smartphones Nüvifone and the new 3G iPhone have features common 3G compatible, 3.5-inch touchscreen, GPS. They are now side by side and the Nüvifone iPhone (its dimensions are almost identical to that of the new iPhone 3G) to give an idea of congestion and different design.

Garmin introduced Nuvifone on its stand at Communicasia salon, but also present GPS Nüvi 900. The GPS has the distinction of being compatible DVB-H and thus receive chaïnes television on his GPS. His screen 4.3 inches greater than currently compatible mobile DVB-H, a definite asset to watch its TV programs as soon as the service is available. On the other hand, the Nüvi 900 will register their favorite programs and store them to view them at another time more appropriate that while driving a car example.

In the race for new innovative user interfaces, Nuvifone Garmin is not too misplaced. Even if the smartphone GPS touch slow to come on the market (it was introduced last February the Mobile World Congress Barcelona), it should appeal to users who want to see something other than Windows Mobile or the iPhone. His minimalist touch interface inspired by the success of the iPhone.

Who had not heard any news in the early days when they spoke, probably will be surprised to see associated with the Garmin brand to a mobile phone, Nuvifone. The mobile phone of Garmin, in fact, was born to counter the widespread trend of phones that make the satellite navigators. If they can put a GPS inside the phone, why can not we put a mobile phone inside the navigation system, will be requested?

Garmin has also simplified the search for points of interest. You find one evening in the midst of an unknown area and want a pizza? Suffice it to say “look Italian restaurant closest” to obtain the list of establishments in question located nearby. Then use the voice command to select one of your choice and the nüvi 860 will guide you step by step to your restaurant. The nüvi 860 also knows many major brand names. Thus, suffice it to the driver to say “Starbucks seek” to get there as soon as possible.
